About Me

Jasmine Amjad is a first generation Pakistani American who has been in media for over 10 years. In high school, she discovered her passion for writing and storytelling and thought, ‘why not make this my job?’

She earned her BA in Television and Digital Media with a concentration in electronic journalism from Montclair State University. She joined NowThis in 2015 originally covering breaking and trending news, but ultimatley became a master at making videos go viral (her highest viewed video has over 90 million views). From there, she managed a team of 8 social news producers and has created original short and long form docu-series. The work she’s done has taken her to all corners of the United States as well as Greece and France. Her focus has been reporting stories centered around sports and from marginalized communities, including human rights issues and the social justice system.

In 2024, Jasmine wrote, produced, and co-directed an off broadway play as part of the New York Theater Festival called, ‘Arrangements.’ The play delves into the themes of arranged marriages and the unique challenges faced by American Muslim woman. The show sold out all three nights.

Jasmine has won a Webby Award as a Coordinating Producer for NowThis’ Presidential Forum with Joe Biden, as well as an AAJA Award for Excellence in Video Storytelling, Short-Form or Social, for her work on a video exploring how Palestinian food, identity, and heritage are targeted.

Always up to something

I’ve always been more comfortable being the one directing or interviewing someone from behind the camera. But once in a while, you can catch me on screen either talking about something I am a passionate about, doing something goofy, or recording an on camera zoom interview.
